“What would happen if you found The One, but meant for another life?”
I’m very excited to bring you a glimpse of my upcoming 2019 novel; a stand-alone about missed opportunities and doing what’s right, no matter how painful it will be.
In the outline phase, In Another Life, is a heartbreaking story about two people who find each other at the wrong time. I believe music can tell a lot about a story which is why I strongly encourage a “Writing Soundtrack” for each book. In Another Life, is an idea that’s been feasting in my mind and heart for awhile now and I’m so excited to get started on it. However, OCD <—more on this later, is telling me I need to get my debut novel out first. *pouts and stomps foot like a child*. Anyway, so I will give you a peek at the first few songs on the “In Another Life” Writing Soundtrack. Enjoy!
In Another Life- Writing Soundtrack
1. Red- If I were a musician and the incredible Taylor Swift hadn’t already cut it, this would be the first “Single”. Ha! It perfectly describes the struggle between my two MC’s. If you haven’t heard it yet, I encourage you to look up the lyrics and listen to the song.
2. Every Little Thing- This song emotionally hits with my story, in terms of the struggle/conflict that In Another Life, presents. Carly Pearce is amazing and the line, “Baby, your ghost still haunts me
But I don’t want to sleep with him no more,” is JUST AMAZING! When I heard this song I was like “YES!!!” Exactly how MC1 feels! Give it a listen!
3. Careless- This another Carly Pearce song- deal with it, the girl is amazing. The conflict in my story centers around MC1’s struggle with how she feels about MC2.
4. How Not To- Dan and Shay have slayed this song and the lyrics are just, gah! I love it! When the idea for this story first began stirring around inside me, this song was on repeat to help with the emotions. “You’re like second nature baby, you’re just like breathing. A melody you hear and you can’t forget.” Yup. Look it up and give it a listen too!
That’s it so far. This is a VERY early WIP and I just know that if it plays out on paper like it has been rolling like a movie in my head, it’s going to be a really great story. I’ll save the “moral” I’m hoping to address here, but trust me, it’ll be worth it.
Thank you for reading!
