Negotiations with Brain on NaNoWriMo2017

At the beginning of October, I posted This Post, announcing my decision to focus on Down to Sleep instead of participating in NaNoWriMo this November (it’s a week away!!!!). It was a hard decision. Over the past few days, as NaNo quickly approaches, I’ve been getting the emails as I’ve yet to turn off notifications for them. *sigh*

I can’t believe this is happening. My brain, both the right and left sides are in a heated battle. Do it, one side says…No, don’t do it says the other. So, in an effort to shut them up I told them to take it to the negotiations table.

Here is what they came up with:

If KT completes 6 of the 14 Chapters of Down to Sleep, then she can participate in NaNoWrimo2017.

Good deal right? 6 chapters will have me in the heart of the story and the 30 days of NaNo will give me a break I need to stop frying my brain on how to fit the story to perfection. Also, and this reason is HUGE, hubby’s deployment got extended past NaNo. That means that either I can sit here for a month and be MISERABLE…because let’s be honest, that’s what I am without him, OR I can dive into the most stressful writing competition and write my 50k word outline of Behind Her Hazel Eyes, the novel I want to tackle next. Click the link to check out what it’s all about.

A part of me is excited and the other part of me is nervous as hell! Anyway, thank you for reading. I literally feel all over the place anyway, so did this news REALLY surprise you?

Happy Reading and Writing. If you’re participating in NaNoWriMo, my handle there is: MAMASTRONG

  1. Good luck, I hope you make it! Six chapters, then another new story to keep you fired up when you’re otherwise feeling blue sounds like the ideal prescription. The idea of writing 50,000 words of fiction (my experience mainly lies in non-) kind of makes me queasy. Besides, I don’t have that full of an outline for my eventual fiction effort, Il Divino, yet so other than a couple of epic scenes the whole thing revolves around, which I’d want to build towards, get the characters’ and antagonists’ stink on me, before I try to tackle those. Best of luck to those of you who dare!

    1. Thank you. I call it an outline because it’s a full 50k word novel, but it’ll be butchered in the editing phase once NaNo is over, ha! Thanks for commenting! I wish you the best of luck in your writing endeavors too!

    1. Thank you! I think, in an effort to get me through the last month of deployment, it may work to my advantage. Down to Sleep is a Nano story. Before I was serious about a writing career.
